The Chairman’s Message
The year 2010 is marked as the beginning of an era as the gates of Jahanara Israil School and college opened to cater to the pedagogic needs of the southern part of Bangladesh as an educational institution backing the English National Curriculum of i.e. English Version.
Situated at the heart of the dynamic and stimulating city of Barishal, JIS College has been offering the highest standards of institutional education since its genesis. The inception cost us innumerable dreams, hopes, and visions amongst which the first and foremost goal was to avail the best quality modern education here at home in Barishal at an affordable cost.
As you are aware, most of the private schools and colleges are situated in Dhaka. We wanted to bring something more to the suburban area as we inclined to decentralize education for all which would prevent our children from leaving for the capital city.
Having developed its reputation for high-quality holistic education at primary and high school level with inordinate results in board exams like PSC, JSC, and SSC, today we have proudly attained the authorization to lay the first stone of English Version Higher Secondary level education in South Bangladesh. JIS College now boastfully provides an inclusive and outstanding 360-degree education to more than 700 students ranging from playgroup to college.
It’s a profound feeling for me to be the Chairman of this eminent institution but I am not the sole dreamer of this splendid initiative. I along with my siblings Saleh M. Solaiman, Saleh M. Hossain, Saleh A. F. Rahman, and Sultana J. Bhuyan visioned this and together we have pragmatized that dream. JIS College is a living memory of our parents. The property is donated by SM Solaiman, SAF Rahman, Sultana J. Bhuyan, and me; also a land value of the monetary donation by SM Hossain. The late SM Hossain’s portion of the land was purchased from his heir apparent for JIS College.
Materializing the dream of building a modern educational institution in this area with a solid, westernized curriculum in this part of Bangladesh was not effortless. It has been possible with our ample hard work and tremendous support from the native people as well as the government. We intended to create a wonderful educational establishment that would provide the students of Barishal with an upper hand in mathematics, science, and English.
Our pedagogic procedure is regulated by a grand number of highly qualified youthful teachers from here and abroad along with some eminent scholars and educational maestri of the town. They are dedicated and skillful professionals who are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that all students are offered the opportunity to fulfill their potential both in and beyond the classroom. The result is that, whether the students continue their education in their home country or seeking places at top academies around the world, JIS College students are invariably well-equipped to take the next step in their education.
My vision is to take JIS College at the zenith, to incorporate JIS College into the list of top-rated educational institutions of Bangladesh. JIS College has become a brand that is a great match for the educational system recently adopted by the government of Bangladesh. Besides rendering a magnificent and sophisticated multistoried establishment with lavish and luxurious facilities, we ensure a safe and secured environment for the students which nourishes the high-quality education they are receiving. Most importantly, parents must know that they do not have to worry whilst their children are here with us.
The journey that is laced beautifully with triumphs would not have been possible without you. I thank you, parents, in all humility for your generosity. Thank you for constantly supporting us in every step we take and reposing your confidence in us. Thank you for entrusting us with the future of your children. Whether you are a Barishalian or not, whether you are a Bangladeshi or not, with your support we can teach our children and enable them to flourish their ideas and turn them into better citizens of the future world. We welcome you to grow with us and be a part of history-making, like many other great Barishalians.
